Southwest Airlines- The Lone Wolf

There are a good amount of reasons to hate the airline companies these days. Most reason stem from the rise of gas prices and the fall of the American dollar. Its effecting ticket prices, general travel expenses and customer service. Getting laid off or receiving pay cuts has made just about every airline employee hostile in the general direction of their customers.

There is one airline, however, who has managed to retain some semblance of true customer service, Southwest Airlines.

The President, Gary Kelly, once spoke at my school’s CEO Breakfast Forum and his was the only speech I found genuine and even a bit inspiring. He spoke a lot about respecting the customer and using common sense to run the airline instead of just going after the buck. So its not that surprising that among the airlines Southwest customer reviews are of the highest esteem.

The company has had an apology policy in place for the last five years and their employees seem to turn situations that could easily become stressful into a minimal emotional upset. And they give you vouchers! The profits show as Southwest Airlines is one of the most profitable airlines in the world and has boasted a profit for 35 consecutive years while other airlines are threatening bankruptcy and yet more price increases and lay-offs

Now there’s just one problem. Southwest airlines is primarily a midwest company and is based in Texas. So no good customer service for us coasties.
